BHUMI: Jurnal Agraria dan Pertanahan ISSN 2580-2151 (Media Online) published by the Center of Research and Community Empowerment of Sekolah Tinggi Pertanahan Nasional/National Land Institute, Yogyakarta. Bhumi Journal published through peer-reviewed periodically 2 times a year. The publication in the Online Journal System, Bhumi is published throughout the year periodically according to the manuscripts that have been received and ready to be published.

Bhumi journal provide understanding of past, present and future of agrarian and land issues. Every article that goes to the editorial staff will be selected through Initial Review processes by Editorial Board. Then, the articles will be sent to the Mitra Bebestari/ peer reviewer and will go to the next selection by double Blind Review Process. The journal topics ranged on land and agrarian issues, such as agrarian change and restructurization, political economy of agrarian resources, agrarian policy, land use change and planning, measurement and mapping, land management, land administration, natural resource-based development, legal reform, as well as broad perspective of "the commons" studies. Bhumi Journal expect articles that are able to encourages debate, controversy, findings and new understanding. 

Bhumi journal manuscript type in the form of Original Research Article, Policy Forum/Policy Notes, Special Section (hot issues), and Book Reviews with themes relevant to focus and scope. For more details, see the Author Guidelines.

Focus and Scope

Bhumi is published twice a year in May and November. Bhumi focuses on the publication of articles on research and policy analysis related to agrarian and land studies: geodesy, spatial, social, humanities, history, economics, and law.

Peer Review Process

Every article that goes to the editorial staff will be selected through Initial Review processes by Editorial Board. Then, the articles will be sent to the Mitra Bebestari/peer reviewer and will go to the next selection by Double Blind Preview Process. After that, the articles will be returned to the authors to revise. 

Publication Frequency

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Screening for Plagiarism

The policy to check indication of plagiarism is implemented for manuscript to be published. Bhumi journal implement plagiarism check using iThenticate to minimize duplication, similarity, plagiarism and poor paraphrasing as described below:

  • Content Duplication. We implement assessment for manuscript that has been published by other URL/ link.
  • Similarity. We implement assessment for manuscript that was considered has high similarities with other articles. A value score will show the percentage of similarities with other published articles.
  • Plagiarism. We implement assessment for the risk of plagiarism for each article. Higher similarity score shows higher risk of plagiarism.
  • Paraphrasing. Poor paraphrasing assessment will be indicated as high score. Higher paraphrasing score will lead to the indication of plagiarism.

The five elements mentioned above indicate minimum standard of assessment to determine whether the manuscript will be accepted or rejected. Editorial board on each issue will hold internal meeting to determine the decision.

Journal History

Bhumi Journal was first published on print version in 2001 by National Land College, Yogyakarta, with ISSN: 1412-730X. Jurnal Bhumi published articles on recent findings of agrarian study.
Since 2015, Bhumi journal has been changed. Bhumi journal has new printed version of ISSN, ISSN:2442-6954. In 2016  Bhumi has been migrated to Open Journal System (OJS) with online version of ISSN 2580-2151. Trough OJS, management and publishing of Bhumi journal is open source. Both of printed and online versions were published by Center of Research and Community Service, National Land College. Bhumi journal has a broader focus on agrarian and land study from various disciplines. Online version of Bhumi journal can be accessed through URL addres: https://jurnalbhumi.stpn.ac.id.

New Layout and Quality Improvement
Since 2015, Jurnal Bhumi implemented strict standard, focusing on quality improvement of the articles. This can be seen from the policy of paper submission, with detailed guideline and selection of articles, considering both aesthetical and substantive matters. These changes were followed by the improvement at editorial level. Bhumi journal has publication standard of each process, from submission, review and publication.
Other improvement were applied on journal cover and article title that includes various identities, such as standardization of the title, name of author(s), affiliation, history of the article, and change on citation guideline based on Harvard Citation Style. Since 2018 Bhumi journal has been equipped by Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
